This season's Uxbridge Minor PeeWee Stars, sponsored by The Ryan Waters Memorial Fund, reigned victorious this past weekend bringing home their first Championship title this 2011-12 season in winning the 6th Annual Oshawa Minor Hockeyfest Tournament.
The Stars opened with a commanding 9-0 win over Toronto City Blues in game 1 followed by a 6-3 victory over the Ottawa Sting.
Tied for first in the tournament with West London's Hawks, Uxbridge fell short in a very close 3-2 loss sending the Stars to a semi-final match-up with league rivals and tournament hosts Oshawa Minor Generals. Taking great pride in beating Oshawa who has beaten the Stars twice already this season, the Generals found themselves watching the finals after suffering a 6-3 loss to the Stars while Uxbridge took to the ice for redemption against the West London Hawks once again for the championship.
With a terrific battle, the Stars Jack Ridley broke the 0-0 tie with 6 minutes remaining and the game winning goal to earn an MVP and propel Uxbridge to their first tournament championship of the season.
Incredible efforts put forth by the entire Stars team including Jeremy Lamport, Jamie Baker, Matthew Whitehead, Aaron Jackson, Riley Buchanan, Josh Jamieson, Griffin Cairns, Nick Manias, Bennett Britton, Mitchell Hicks, Adam Fowler, Jack Ridley, Troy Bowditch, Liam McCormick, Mack Batten, Adrian McCartney, and Joel Roberts. Congratulations Stars!"
