Uxbridge Young Bruins Tyke Selects team wins 46th Annual Mississauga Reps Spring Tournament

The Tyke team was assembled in December, made up of seven year old boys and girls from the UYHA Novice division. With 3 months of weekly practices at NTR, and no game play under their belts, they entered the renowned GTHL sponsored tournament held April 9 - 11, 2010. The boys and girls were to face a big challenge, as the teams they would be playing have been together all season and play regularly games as part of the GTHL Select division.
The young Bruins came out strong with a 3-2 win over York Mills on the first day. Goals scored by Oliver Tarr (2) and Sullivan Chant; assisted by Conner Barnes, Jack Kerrigan, Auston McKay, Bridget Stuart; Oliver was named game MVP. On Saturday the Young Bruins defeated Erin Hillsborough 3-1; points went to Sullivan Chant (1g); Bailey Brass (1g); Oliver Tarr (1a) and Cole Ferraro (1g). Cole was named game MVP. The next game was against Lorne Park and ended in a 3-2 win for the Bruins; points went to Cole Ferraro (1g, 1a), Sullivan Chant (1g, 1a) and Chavonne Truter (1g and game MVP).
The semifinal early Sunday morning was a nail biter against York Mills. The game went into overtime and the Young Bruins came out victorious with a 4-3 win. Points awarded: Benjamin Davies (1g), Sullivan Chant (1g), Cole Ferraro (1g), Chavonne Truter (1a) and Oliver Tarr (1g in overtime; as well as game MVP). Goalies Josh Henneberry and Kaitlyn Brown were awesome between the pipes.
This young undefeated team did their hometown of Uxbridge proud as they came out winners of the championship game against the renowned North Toronto select team. The first goal was scored in 23 seconds by North Toronto, but the Young Bruins did not give up. The Bruins came back by scoring 3 goals in the first period; North Toronto answered and tied the game early in the second period. Determined to win the Young Bruins came back and scored three unanswered goals to win the Championship by 6-3. Points awarded to Cole Ferraro (1g); Oliver Tarr (1g); Sullivan Chant (4g, and game MVP); Sam Morgan (1a); Auston McKay (1a); Mason Perry (1a) and Benjamin Davies (1a).
