The Innovasium Minor Bantam A Stars battled Oakville in game 5 last night. The Stars trailed by 2 at the end of the first period and then rallied to bring the score to 3-2 with 2 minutes to go in the third. The extra attacker on the ice wasn't enough to get through Oakville's defenses. Oakville managed to score on the empty net twice. Final score 5-2. Well done Stars. Fantastic playoff run this year!
Series Summary:
The Stars lost game 4 by a 2-0 score Monday night at home.
Game 3 of the series ended in a 3-3 tie, with Game 2 going to Uxbridge by a 1-0 score and Game 1 to Oakville by a 3-0 score.
The Stars have been on a great run to reach this point in the season. The team had a great year in the Lakeshore League loop with a 20-4-3 mark. Its winning percentage was an impressive .796 and it finished five points ahead of the nearest rival.
Goals for and against were an impressive 94 and 40 respectively.
Finalists in the Silver Stick Regional Tournament, the team attitude, determination, and sportsmanship were rewarded through a special invitation to play in the International Silver Stick Tournament, where it went undefeated to the semifinals before losing in the third overtime period.
Clarington, Whitby, and Belleville challenged the team to represent the Lakeshore in the playoffs and they all fell to the determined Stars. After that, East Gwillimbury, the best of York-Simcoe, met the same fate as other challengers.

Team members are Brock Shields, Cody Northover, Owen Barry, Liam Knoll, Paul Barton, Matt Winnitoy, Todd Winder, Braeden Whitehead, Callen Hageman, Derek Dolan, Jason Simmonds, Cameron Warriner, Jack MacDougall, Luke Melong, Adam English, Quinn Eden, Jeffery Wilson and Luke Baldero. The team is coached by Brent Barton, Matt Morrison, and Mike Boyce.
